GERMAN CRUISER SUNK.
IN THE BALTIC SEA. Xc\f York, Nov. 8. Renter's Berlin cerrespondent reports that the German cruiser Undine was sunk by a submarine in the Baltic yesterday. (The Undine was a cruiser of 2700 tons, built in 1903. She carried ten 4.lin. guns,) LOSS OF THE UNDINE. HIT BY TWO TORPEDOES. Received Nov. 9, 9.. r > p.m. Amsterdam, Nov. 8. An official telegram from Berlin states that the small German cruiser Undine was sunk on Sunday while patrolling the south coast of Sweden. A submarine fired two torpedoes. Nearly the whole of the crew were saved. Copenhagen,- Nov. 8. One of the torpedoes struck the Undine's machine room. A special train brought the survivors and the dead to Kiel. The submarine, an hour previously, had purchased provisions from a Swedish steamer. Since Sunday Swedish warships have convoyed merchant ships in the Baltic. BRITISH STEAMER SUNK. IN THE MEDITERRANEAN. London, Nov. 8. Official: Two submarines on Friday, in the Eastern Mediterranean, sank the British armed boarding steamer Tara. Thirty-four men are missing. INCENDIARISM ON LINERS. ' ANOTHER OUTRAGE. New York, Nov. 8. The French line steamer Rochambeau has a. lire in her coal bunkers in the Atlantic. The vessel is returning to Halifax, although the captain reports that the danger is not serious. The outbreak 19 believed to be due to a pro-German outrage. It now appears established that the fire on the Rio Lagos was due to an incendiary bomb placed in a sugar bag. Criticism is growing of the employment of Germans and Austrians as stevedores at the port of New York.
