PRISONERS TO BE INTERNLi). STIRRING UP THE NATIVES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland. Nov. 8, Fifteen German prisoners-of-war were brought to Auckland by the Talune last night in charge of a guard from the Samoan garrison under Captain J. A. Algie. Among the prisoners was Karl ITartssen, general manager of the D.H. and P.O. Company at Samoa, who has been sentenced to six months' imprisonment by the military court for evading the censorship and disobeying regulations, lie was also ordered to be interned until the end of the war. He sent letters by motor-boats, intercepting sailing vesBtd« trading to San Francisco, where they were to be posted to Germany. They were captured en route and sent hack.
Another prisoner was Adolph Eberhardt, manager of one of the principal plantations of the DJI. and P.G. Company. He was charged with failing to deliver to the occupying force property in his charge belonging to the late German Government at Samoa. For this offence lie was lined £l!0 and ordered to he interned until the end of the war. Documents of the utmost importance have been secured since, the occupation. The others brougit back were ordinary prisoners-of-war, who have been ordered to be interned. -
Passengers by Hie Talune assert that the Germans arc endeavouring to stir up a huge army of natives, telling many untruths and stating that London has been razed and Britain occupied.
