THE DARDANELLES
TURKISH REPORT. ANOTHER BOMBARDMENT. London, Nov. 7. A Turkish communique says:—There were artillery duels on the Dardanelles front. Cruisers and a monitor bombarded our positions at Ari Btirnu and Seddul Bahr. Our artillery destroyed an enemy's ammunition depot. SHELLING A TRANSPORT. Received Nov. 9, 1.10 a.m. Amsterdam, Nov. 8. A Turkish communique says: Our artillery near Anafarta bombarded a torpedoer and a transport off Kemiklilimp. Several hits were observed, and the transport departed enveloped in smoke. An enemy aeroplane was damaged by our fire, and fell in the sea near Kuchukkenikli. Three of the enemy's armoured vessels and a torpedoer in the same sector were engaged in an unsuccessful bombardment of our positions. The enemy after artillery preparation, attempted to advance against our centre but failed. The enemy fired thirteen Hundred shells against our left wing unavailingly. MORE COLONIAL HONORS. London, Nov. 7. The following have been mentioned in dispatches from Gallipoli for distinguished service:—Australian and New Zealand staffs: Colonels Khauver, Cun-liffe-Owen, F. Hughes, Manders, and M'Glinn. LADY HAMILTON'S VIEWS. London, Nov. 7. Lady lan Hamilton, who is receiving gifts for the troops at the Dardanelles, says: "They are splendid men fighting against all the odds of nature and an enemy who is able to congregate.
