MANAWATU SHOW.

PEOPLE'S DAY. A PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL. The Falnierston Show was concluded on Friday, "People's Day," when, despite unfavorable weather, there was a very large attendance, though it wa3 not up to that of last year. The total gate and stand receipts for the three days were £797, as against £1026 last year. As the result of Show Week the patriotic funds should show a considerable increase, as, in addition to the profits from the show, there were all sorts of devices in operation for appealing to the pockets of one and all, and a good response resulted. An All Nations fair, held in the-Hall of Industries netted £1438 16s Bd, whilst a spinning jenny was in operation and took £SOO in cash, the winners being given that value of the McHardy Section tickets. The Opera House was crowded on each night when the Operatic Company performed "Paul Jones"-in aid of the funds, and at one performance £306 was also subscribed by the audience. The grand parade at the show was a magnificent Bpectacle, and it is questionable if a finer sight could be seen in any show ring. The ring competitions were again very interesting, a. special feature being a display of stretcher work by the men of the Ambulance Corps now in camp at Awapuni. The Governor and Lady Liverpool were present during the day and were the guests of the committee at luncheon. COMPETITIONS. SECOND DAY Lady's and gentleman's hack. —H.
