NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Monday, November 1, my Urenifll yards had a full yarding, with a heavy demand right through for all classes, practically everything yarded being j cleared at the hammer at the following I prices:—Yearling to 15-month-heifers £1 17s fid to £3 3s, good 15 month steers £3 18s to £4 ss, s mall or rough year-i lings £2 lis to £3 2s 6d, empty 2-year| heifers £4 4s to £4 Bs, 2%-year steers £5 7s fld to £0 4s, fat cows £8 los to" £lO 2s, forward cows £6 18s to £7 17s fld, store cows £5 17s to £6 12s fld, very small store cows £3 2s fld to £4 3s, pedigree Jersey bull 20gns., heavy bulls for boning £ll 5s to £l3 12s fld, dairy bulls £5 10a fo# small to £ll 15a for good, ewes and lambs 255, fat hoggets, (small line) 26s 6d. At Rahotu on Tuesday, 2nd inst., I had a very good yarding of all olasses, for which there was keen competition right through the sale, prices being:— Yearling heifers £1 15s to £2 Cs, 15month heifers £2 12s fld to £2 Ms fid, good £3 5s fld, 16-month steers £3 18s to £4 ss, rough yearlings £2 12s fld tb £2 16s, empty 2-year heifers £4 14s to £5 3e, small and rough £3 8s fld to £3 17s, fat cows (light) £Q 6s to £9 7s fld, forward cows £7 to £8 Is, store cows (good) £5 17s to £6 15s, smaller store cows £4 lis to £6 ls> small springing heifers £4 5s to £<3 2s, pedigree 2-year Holstein bull 26 gns., grade Holstein bulls (rough), £l4 to £ls, grade Shorthorn (rough), £9 to £l2, boner bulls (heavy) £lO 5s to £l3. On the same, day at Stratford, for my weekly springing heifer fair, I had a record sale. The special entry of 42 dairy cows on account of Mr. D. Yandle, Puniwhakan, attracted numerous buyers from all parts of the district, and considering that these cows were in milk, great prices were obtained, the highest being £lB 10s, but the other prices were consistent, the herd of 42 making the good average of £l2 9s 3d, which must be considered very satisfactory. Heifers (calved), on account of Mr. Yandle, made £8 10s to £ll, and springing heifers on account of other vendors sold very readily at prices up to £l2 and down to £4 10s to £6 5s for backward stuff. Dairy cows made £6 10s to £9 10s, the 100 head of dairy cattle sold averaging £9 10s 3d. ■ Private sales for the week are as follow: —15-month steers £3 15s to £3 18s, smaller £3 5s to £3 10s, choice Jersey and Holstein 15-month heifers £3 10s, yearling heifers £2 to £2 6s 6d, empty 2-year heifers £4 4s, rough 2-year steers ' £5 7s fid to £5 10s, 3-year bullocks £9 10s to £ll 10«, fat cows £9 to £lO sa, store cows £5 12s to £7 15s (according to condition), dairy cows £8 to £lO, dairy heifers £5 los to £7 15s, hoggets 21s Gd, ewes and lambs 29s to 325, pedigree Shorthorn balls 25 to 30gns., 3-year draught colt by Empire 40gns.
HIDE, WOOL AND SKINS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. report:— Wheat—Fair demand at 4s lOd to 5s per bushel, ex store. 1 Oats—Sales steady at 4s Id to 4s 2d, ex store. Bran—Slow of sale at £6 15s per ton, ex store. Pollard—(Firmer, owing to supplies being rather short, £fi )-3s per ton, ex store Maize—Demand lias eased with lower prices prevailing for wheat. Price, 4s <M and 4s lOd per bushel, ex store.,, Chaff —Sales firm. Prime southern, £8 os to £9 7s 8d per ton, ex store; good local, £8 10s, ex store. Potatoes—Good quality scarce, £ll 7s 6d per ton, ex store. Fungus—Scarce; readily fetching 7cl per lb for good dry samples. Manures —In good demand; English basic slag, at £5 15s per ton, still finds ready sale. We submitted and sold average catalogues of hides, skins and tallow on Tuesday, competition being keen for all lines offering. Hides market firmer. Pigs—There was the largest yarding of fat pigs seen at Addingt'on for a considerable time, but the quafity was only fair and prices were decidedly easier, though the market for store pigs kept up well.

Fat Cattle —Prime 'bullocks made £2O to £22, extra to £23 12s 6d, medium to good £lB 10s to £lB, light £l2 10a to £l3 Ids, best cows and heifers £l4 to £l6 10s, extra to £l6 17s fid, medium to good £ll to £l2, light and aged £9 to £lO. Fat sheep—2o23 penned, the quality being below last week's standard. Prices opened about last week's rates, but towards the close advanced la per head. Prime wethers made 44s to 47s fld, extra to i>Qs, medium to good 32s to 38s, light 24s fid to 28s, best ewes 32a to 38s, extra to 51s, medium 24» 0d to 275, light and unfinished 19s to 21s, prime shorn ewes to Dos 3d, heavy do. to 365. Fat lambs—B3 were penned, and sold up to 245.
