MANAWATU SHOW.
SOME OF THE AWARDS. By Telegraph—Special to Daily New% Palmerston N., Last Night. Bad weather provailed for the wcond day of the show, but neverthelesl the attendance was good. The Premier opened the new cattle pavilion, and the judging of cattle, horses, etc., was proceeded with. The cattle were exceptionally fine and were -shown in good condition. CHAiMMONSHIPS. Hereford bull-G. F. Moore, Kai Iwij reserve, E. Short, Feilding. Hereford Cow—E. Short; reserve, C. A, J. Lcvett, Kiwitea. Ayrshire bull—James Kyle, Aokalltere; reserve, D. Buchanan, Tiaket*buna.
Ayrshire cow—Mental Hospital, Potlrua; reserve, C, Karsten, Pataerston North.
Jersey bull—R. J. Linn, Nornt&nby *<Lord Twylish); reserve, F. J. Watson, Bulls.
Jersey cow—£. B. Eagle, Carts rt<«j reserve, Eagle, jvuir., Carterton. Holatein bull—W. J. Lovelock, Karere; reserve, M. Leith, lamrcugQL Holatein cow—J. Liggms, Tokmnartt; reserve, JW. Raymond, Olive. Draught stallion—Donald's Featherstou; reserve, A. Tocker, IMb* erston.
Draught gelding—Wellington Ota Corporation; reserve, Wellington (Sty, Corporation.
There were not many Taranaki tx- , hibitois in the cattle sections, but time who did show secured recognition. In Shorthorns there was good competition,' and G. A. Turner (Bitham) secured first for a pen of two heifers, and Moond and third for two-year-old bull. In the Jerseys, R. J. Linn, of Nonnanby, gained the championship with his wellknown bull Lord Twyiiah, whilst a yearling daughter, owned by G. A, Sadler, of Normanby, beat a strong class of seven. There were no Ayrshires or Holsteins from Taranaki. 3. formerly of Hawera, was first with Silver King for carriage stallion, whilst J. D. Mitchell (Mauaia) was first with Patrick T. for entire pony, and with Princess was third out of twelve entries in the pony mares. In the weight-carrying hade class, up to 13 stone, J. AfcL. Blflrir (Hawera) was second, and J. (TDoimell (Inaha) third, whilst A. Mitchell's Hassan, J. McL. Blair's Captain Starlight, and J. O'Donnell's King's Park filled the places in maiden backs. In best troop horse, J. W. tßurke's Eltham Fritz was first, and R. Burke's Cliff third, and the same horses were respectively third and second in the single harness class. In Irish Terriers, Mrs. G. H. Saunders swept the board, her two entries, Pokekura Tigris and Pukekura Prodigy, between them receiving ten firsts, three specials and three seconds. Pukekura Tigris also woii the New Zealand Kennel Club's Challenge Cup.
