REJOICING.

To the Editor. Sir,—The Stratford Borough Council arc a body of men with large hearts, and are going to give a welcome home, to our returned warriors and a farewell send-off to the next reinforcements. So the Mayor called a special meeting of the Council, and after being in labor for one hour brought forth the entertainment scheme, which I understand from one of the nurses is as follows: The Mayor, town clerk, councillors, ollice start", engineer, the workmen, and the captain and crew of the scow Queen of the Night are individually to spar up the sum of 2s lid, paid in one instalment, based on an equal levy system. The women of Stratford are to find the supper. The first part of the show is to be free to all (quite right), and after the reception, speeches, and so on the soldiers are to ho entertained at supper, bur. owing to the small accommodation only a limited number can be invited, and they are to consist of the Patriotic Committee, County Council, School Committee, soldiers and their fathers, local celebrities, and, lastly, the Hospital Board, who are specially invited to watch dyspeptics and cold-footed citizens. Afterwards what fame will attach itself to such a council, and their names should be engraved on the roll of honor. —I am, etc., CITIZEN.
