THE COUNCIL VACANCY. MR. F. E. WILSON ELECTED. Very little interest was taken in theelection for one borough councillor yesterday, for the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr. S. J. Smith. Mr. F. E. Wilson polled 464 votes as against Mr. F. H. Jackson's 210. With 5 informal votes cast, the total voters numbered only 670 on a roll of 5,790, or a fraction over 10 per cent. The following was the voting at the various booths:—
