A rather sensational report is current in Wellington regarding the internment of a man who has heen in receipt of Government pay, and who is now alleged to have strong German sympathies. An organisation in England, called the Rural League, has inaugurated a sche for reviving and developing small iml_. tries and home crafts in" the villages, The main idea is to replace the great variety of small artieles which have been imported from Germany, Austria, and Hungary, to the value' of ten inillio" pounds per annum, and, at the san time, to employ the spare time of the rural population, and increase their earnings.
