ANNUAL SPRING SHOW. (By Telegraph.—Special to Daily News.) Palmerston North, Last Night. Despite the fact that the scarcity of labor on dairy farms, due to war conditions, has prevented a large number of people making the trip to PaLmerston North this year, the town for the thirtieth annual spring show, which should prove a great success, given fair weather conditions, though this looks doubtful, as at time of wiring it is raining steadily.

A feature of the show is the stride made by the Society in catering for exhibitors by providing a substantial commodious, and comfortable structure for housing all cattle. This was built at a cost of over £4OOO, and is said to be the best structure of its kind in New Zealand. Exhibitors can now rely on their valuable cattle being well-cared tor, and this is certain to be reflected in future entries. All cattle, sheep, and pigs are now shown under cover.

The entries in the cattle classes are large. Ayrshires take pride of place for numbers, followed by Holsteins and Jerseys.

There are very few Taranaki exhibitors. Messrs. R. J. Linn and G. A. Hadler (Normanby) are showing in Jerseys, and Mr. G. A. Turner (Eltham) in Shorthorns. In horses, Messrs. J. D. Mitchell and A. Mitchell (Manaia), J. O'Donnell (Inaha), J. McL. Blair (Hawera), and J. W. P;urke (Elthani), are showing. Pigs, which are in large numbers, drew entries from all over the North Island. In a strong class, Symons Bros. (Pungarehu), with two entries, scored first and champion, and third for breeding sow. Taranaki secured several prizes in the horse competitions,/ Mr. A. Mitchell (Manaia), being second in the Open Riders' Competition, first in the Turning Competition, and Potato Race; Mr. J. D. Mitchell's (Manaia) Princess, was first in the Pony Leaping, and Mr. R. Burke's (Eltham) Cliff, was second in the Harness Horse Pace and Style event. Eric Cleaver was the second best boy rider.

Cattle, horses, and sheep will be judged to-morrow. For the first day, the attendance was good. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Last Night.

Champion Breeding Berkshire Sow, in pig—Symons' Bros. (Pungarehu). Champion Tamworth Boar, under 12 months —N. P. Xeilsen (Tiakitahuna). Champion Tainworth Breeding Sow, in pig—E. J. Rodgers (Xgaruawahia). Champion Yorkshire Boar, over 12 months —Porii'ua Mental Hospital. Champion Large Black—E. J. Rodgers.
