UILDINO EMPLOYERS' CONFERENCE.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Federated Builders' .Association of Employers opened to-day, Mr. X. Meuli (Wanganui)'; presiding. The report staled it was doubtful if anything would be done further to amend the Wages Protection and Contractors' Lien Act to afford better protection to contractors' Interests until the war was over. The r-reeutive was satisfied that on the whole the present goneia] conditions of contract had proved of great value to the trade and the general public, and were affording contractors a measure of protection and a recognition of the rights of the trade not previously obtaining m the Dominion. The term of five years for which they were settled had now expired and they were again open to revision should cither the architects or builders call for another conference. The report stressed the desirableness of making the durauion of an award five years, ami the hope was expressed there would be no more tardy issuing of copies of new awards.
