KING'S HORSE WIN'S. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, Oct. 20. The Queensbury Handicap at Newmarket was won by the King's horse Friar .Marcus. ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES. By Telegraph.—Press Associatioa. Auckland, yesterday. Heavy rain yesterday and during the night made the track's at Ellerslie soft, but no rain fell during training operations this morning. All work of im porta nee was registered on the outside of the course proper. Loloma beat Hadj over four furlongs in 53 4-fisec,, and Astor did the same distance in the same time. Hydrus galloped six furlongs, the last five in Imin 9 3-Ssec. Merry Roe <vas too good for Guilding Way over a round done in 2min 7see. Colonel Soult. with the assistance of Svno, did the last five of six furlongs in lmin lfl 3-ssec, Play Ofl' four in .14 -j-asec,; Self and Castalia were together in front of Tenacious after seven furlongs done in lmin 37 1 -.'isec. Mandoline covered six furlongs in lmin 23see.; H.vllus was better than Cultriform over four furlongs in 55see. Pofcoa and Jolie Fille did a round in 2min 11 3-usec. The former was lame after working. Royal Irish was going easier than Pendoon after seven furlongs done in lmin 37sec. After breakfast, Goldsize, with the assistance of Gold Lace over the last six furlongs, galloped a round in 2min ssec. Jack Delaval was better than Mullingar over six furlongs in lmin 21 l-ssec., and Rekanui beat Waiuku over four furlongs in 54aec. Tinopai covered seven furlongs in lmin 33aec., the fastest for the morning. Glenroy galloped five furlongs in lmin 82-cisee. Expedition went a round by the country, jumping well, but was sore after. A lot of others also worked.
