(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday. A man named li. .McDonald, alias 0. Horner, will appear before the local Court on Wednesday morning, on an alleged charge of forging a cheque for £lO. The accused is before the court at Uawera to-day on a similar charge. Mr. (J. T, Munav, resident engineer for the Public Works Department, has been transferred to Wellington to succeed Mr. Vickcrmann who has enlisted for the front. llis successor to take charge of this district has not been, announced yet. This morning, at the Police Court, before Mr. F. J. McDonald, J.P., a man who had been remanded for seven days' for a "rest cure" at New Plymouth, was lined 20s, car hire 2s, medical expenses 17s Cd, or seven days' imprisonment. The accused decided to have another week at the "seaside." The vital statistics for Stratford for October are: —Births 23, deaths 1, marriages, 9. His Worship the Mayor received word from the Defence Department, that one invalid is aboard the Willochra from the Stratford district. The local Hospital Board has been informed that the patient is being sent to the New Plymouth Hospital. ' The Dardanelles Market on Saturday was again a success, £l3 being the result of the dav's business.
