More than one recently-returned visitor to the United States lias expressed the opinion that California is largely pro-German. Some details bearing out that view were given to a Post reporter recently by a gentleman who had made careful enquiries into the matter while over there on business, and who has just come back to the Dominion. A section of the press, he says, is subsidised by Germany to the extent of nearly £BOO,OOO a month, and shops fon the sale of pro-German literature and pro-German songs to be sung by school children are a prominent feature.
