COAL LUMPERS' STRIKE, By Cable—Preas Association—Copyright. Sydney, 0ct!.27. The position of the coal lumpers' trouble is unchanged, and a number of vessels are held up. The Star of Scotland sailed with 700 instead of 2000 tons of coal. The Moeraki visited Newcastle and secured a supply. The Naval Department has commandeered supplies in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Westralian ports for the transports.
The Industrial Court has received an application on behalf of the Colliery Owners and Stevedores Associations to prosecute the Lumpers' Union. The hearing will take place to-morrow, The secretary of the Union has been summoned to appear. Sydney, Oct. 2S. In the Assembly a series of questions were asked suggesting that the lumpers' strike was fomented by Gorman agents, owing to the fact that 300 British-born lumpers had enlisted, and that a large proportion are now foreigners. Mr. Esteel promised to investigate the matter.
