The Hospital Sunday collections totalled £9773. MINERS' STRIKE. Sydney, Oct. 20. The northern colliery proprietors meet the men in conference on Wednesday. QUEENSLAND SHEEP SEIZED. Oct. 26. Seven thousand sheep seized by the Government are being treated at the Queensland meat works for export for Imperial purposes. INCOME TAX ON SUGAR SHARES. Melbourne, Oct. 26. It is stated that the Federal income tax commissioner has agreed to accept 50 per cent, of the dividends on colonial sugar shares as taxable, the remainder being earned outside Australia. GOVERNMENT HOUSE. Sydney, Oct. 20. The Governor has formally entered into possession of the old Government House. HOLD-UP OP STEAMERS. Sydney, Oct. 25. The coaling of steamers was brought to a sudden standstill to-day as the result of a mass meeting of the Coal Lumpers' Union deciding to make certain demands on, the employers, who were given till to-morrow afternoon to reply. Meantime the men will not resume work. The vessels hung up include some transports. It is understood the men demand 2s an hour for day work and. 3s for overtime, the latter commencing at 5 o'clock in the evening.
