THE CALL TO LONDON.
QUESTION OF ACTING-PREMIER. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Oct. 25. The decision of the Prime Minister with regard to the call to London is still unannounced. In the meantime, the local Reform organ has been saying with just a little more emphasis than is necessary that if Mr Massey goes Home to consult with the Imperial authorities he must take his Minister for Finance with him. It is obvious that if Sir Joseph Ward remained here he would nave to become acting-Prime Minister and that is a possibility that some ardent Reformers iind it hard to face calmly even in these days of party truce. The next Minister on the list of precedence is the present Minister for Defence (Hon, J. Allen), and it is not too much to say that Mr. Allen's temporary elevation to the head of the Government would alarm many members of his own party very much, The position has its amusing side.
