PERSONAL.
Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Glasgow, of Wanganui, arc on a short holiday visit to New Plymouth. Mr A. M. Robertson, of the New Plymouth money-order office, left on Monday on temporary transfer to Hamilton. The change is consequent on staff emergencies arising out of war conditions. Mr. Robertson was unable to pass the medical examination for recruits, or would have joined some of his relatives now in camp. The death is announced of a very old resident of Wellington, Mr. Frank Grady, aged 75. His business was th*t of watchmaker and jeweller, He was a Mason of high rank, and was active in many capacities socially. He leaves a family of four, one of his daughters being the wife of Mr. McCallum. M.P. for Mai ran. News has been received in Masterton that Lieut. Roy Messenger, who left with the- first New Zealand expeditionary force, and who was recently reported wounded, is missing. Lieut. Messenger, who was about 24 years of age, was a well-known athlete, footballer, and golf player. He was one of the best known amateur runners in the Wellington province, and competed at several championship gathering*.
