DOMINION'S SHARE.
A OAIX/ANT WFAiLMGTON BOS. A fine tribute to the good qualities of the late Lieutenant Holloway Winder, of Wellington (tilled in action), is paid by Lieutenant-Colonel C. E. E. Maekesy, Auckland Mounted Rifles, in a letter which he wrote as follows to the deceased's parents (Mr. and Mrs. George Winder, of Krie street) from Zeitoun Camp, on September 13:—"Permit me to express my sympathy with you at the loss of your dear son, lieutenant Winder. Young Winder turned out all you could ask of him. A fearless leader, he was well liked by his troop. He died a soldier's death while leading a charge on Chuvie Bair, where so many of my brave lads went down. The bullet that robbed the regiment of a gallant officer took him through the heart, killing him instantly. God grant you comfort. I know what you feel like. Yet, thinkin the flush of victory, at the head of his men, cut off without a second of pain or regret! What better ending to a young life could a father ask for? Man! you can be proud of your son as I am of my officer."
