BRITAIN.
THE RECRUITING CAMPAIGN. EXCELLENT RESULTS,, LORD DERBY CONFIDENT. Received Oct, 25, 7.5 p.m. London, Oct. 25. Mr. Horatio Bottouiley, speaking at Hackney, said that he had discussed the new recruiting scheme with Lord Derby, who said that his experience had already convinced him that the voluntary system would be saved, and he confidently anticipated that by the end of November there would be sufficient recruits to meet army requirements. Mr. Gosling, speaking at Deptford, said that Lord Kitchener had promised the Allies an army of a certain size, and tiiere was no going back upon that. It was useless telling Lord Kitchener that "we think we can get enough men," for Lord Kitchener would reply: "Have you got enough?"
Mr. Bowerman said the response to the Labor Recruiting Committee's efforts was extremely good. Several delegates stated that, with a view of avoiding enlisting, young men had obtained work in arsenals which could be done by men over military ags,
