DISTRICT NEWS.
T.AHHRAM&I. (JVom Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday 22nd inst, the manager of the North Egmont Hostelry (Mr. Williams), accompanied by Mr. Upson as guide, made the trip to the summit of the mountain. Mr. Williams had often been to the summit from the Stratford side, but wishing to know the track from the north side, decided to go after the recent very heavy fall of snow. After stiff climbing, on account of excess of snow, the summit was reached, and a grander and mora glorious sight could never be seen. The day was perfect, and the view was magnificent. On the return home, Messrs. Williams and Upson glissaded for 3000 feet, right from the crater to Humphries Castle. This was the first trip to the summit since the search party was out for the unfortunate man Peqfrce, who perished last season, some six months ago. Mr. Williams gives great praise to the capabilities of the guide (Mr. Upson), •who is thoroughly conversant with the track and his work.
