UNION COMPANY PURCHASE, The latest number of the Daily Shipping Index, of Melbourne, states that the Union S.S. Company, of New Zealand, has paid £120,000 for the ex-Ger-man steamer Sehlesien, or the Maritime, as she was first named by the Dunlops, who first bought her for £75,000. The Maritime is practically a new steamer, the Norddeutscher Lloyd having only had her a few months, and h"ke most of the new German vessels, no expense was spared in her construction. She is speedy, well built, a good carrier, and will not have to be materially altered structurally to fit her for the Union Company's requirements.
