During a recent visit to Waugunui a representative of this paper was much interested in what lie saw at tlie electroplating establishment of Messrs Adams and Boyd, of Nixon This business was started in the Avemie some live years ago, but owing to its growth it became necessary to move into the present larger and more central premises a few months ago. The work of electro-plating presents some very, interesting features, electricity and the metal which it is intended to plate any article being the principle agents. The electroplating room contains a dynamo, driven by a gas engine, and several largo vats and troughs. Running transversely along these troughs are several metal rods, which are connected with the dynamo, forming positive and negative control. Suspended from the positive rod, and immersed in the water, may be seen gold, silver, copper, or nickel, the whole being agitated by a strong electric current. Thi* current plays on the metal, gradually dispersing it in the trough, so that- when the article about to be plated is dipped the work of renewal foegins at once, the hue of the metal being quickly observable on its surface.' Tableware, cruets, teapots, bicycle parts, motor parts, shop fittings, gas fittings, plumbers' work, bedsteads and brass instruments are all treated in this way, with pleasing and artistic results. Messrs Adams and Boyd invite Tarnnaki residents to send any old goods that want plating, and thev ramrantee satisfactory result!
