BOWLING.
PIHAMA CLUiB OPENING. On Wednesday, writes our Pihama correspondent, tlio Pihama Bowling Club opened the playing season in the usual customary style. The day was an unfavorable one on account of the cross winds blowing. The ladies provided an excellent afternon tea. Bowlers were present from Opunake, Auroa and Manaia.
STRATFORD. At" the bowling green on Thursday afternoon, writes our Stratford correspondent, quite a large number of players attended, and a fine afternoon was spent. The green, despite the bad weather that has just passed was in excellent order, although a bit on the heavy side. On Monday next (Labor Day), a progressive pairs match will be started at 10 a.m., and continues all day. The club members are looking forward to a day's enjoyment and will be pleased to see any visitors on that day. On Thursdays and Saturday afternoons, rinks will be selected at 2 p.m. All players are requested to place their names in the box when entering the pavilion, go that they may be included in the teams picked.
