HAWERA CLUB. The annual meeting of the Hawera Club was held on Wednesday evening, when there was a fair attendance of members, with Mr. B. McCarthy in the chair. The hon. secretary read the report and balance-sheet, and on the motion of the chairman they were adopted. The bal-ance-sheet showed that the finances were in a healthy state, a credit balance of £C being in hand. Speaking to the motion, the chairman said that expenditure had been pretty light, but during the coming season material would require a good deal of renewing. As the club had taken over Bayly Park from the Football Club, about £l7 for rates and taxes would also be required. He hoped that revenue from subscriptions would be better, and said that it would be necessary to secure additional support from townspeople interested.

A letter was received from Mr. Blamires, regretting that he considered it his duty to withdraw from active participation in the game for the duration of the war. He offered to coach beginners and also High School boys if members would like him to do so. A motion was passed acknowledging Mr. Blamires' past services, regretting that he would not be talcing part in matches, and trusting that at some future time he would renew his active association with the club. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. G. T. Bayly; president, Mr. W. G. White; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Dixon, E. E. Nalder; hon, secretary, Mr. V. A. Stapleton; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. G. Bayley; club eaptain, Mr. R. F. Page; committee, Messrs McCarthy, Harper, Pratt, Douglass, Lord and Cantelin; ground committee, Messrs 'Pratt, Harper, Douglas, Japka, Lord; selection committee, Messrs McCarthy, Pratt and Page; delegates to association, Messrs Pratt and Page. The subscription was fixed at 12s 6d, and the opening day was left for the committee to arrange. In order to improve practice, a concrete wicket will be put down on the ground. A special effort was made for this in the room, and most of the amount required was subscribed. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Bayly for his services during the past season.—Star.
