NEW ZEALAND TELEGRAMS.

■«»■ ' POST OFFICE DEPOSITS. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. It is officially announced that the recent amendment to the Post Office Act in the direction of making provisions for the acceptance of deposits for fixed periods bearing interest at a rate which may not exceed a certain maximum named, must not be regarded as indicative of the Government's intention to introduce the system immediately. It must be understood that the amount of interest which may be paid is not at all likely to reach the maximum provided by the Act. This notification is made to remove the impression that the mixiliumi limit of interest payable under the Act is the rate likely to'be fixed by the Government.
