EXPORTS FROM TARANAKI. THTRD SHIPMENT TO-DAY. ESTIMATED VALUE £5-1,580. The third Taranaki shipment of the new season's dairy produce •will be made from New .Plymouth this morning l , when the Comma will take 11,011 boxes of butter and 4,012 crates of cheese. At Wellington the produce will be transhipped to the Arawa, which sails for London on Tuesday next. The shipment i 3 slightly larger than was estimated earlier in the week, and consequently shows greater value. It is expected that the butter will realise £.l 10s a box, making it of the value of JE3S,r»3B 10s, while the cheese should bring £4 a crate, the value of the shipment (being £r0,048. The total amount which the shipment is expected to realise on the Home market is thus £54,586 10b. The following table shows the quantities of butter and cheese exported from Taranaki this season, and the amount the shipments are expected to realise (to-day's shipment is included): Date. The third Auckland shipment to London of the new season's butter was made by the K..M.S. Arawa, which left Auckland for Wellington on Tuesday with 34,525 boxes. The shipments from Auckland this season now total 83,503 boxes, with-asn estimated value of £803,601. The first shipment to London of the new season's butter was made by the Otaki, which left in September with 20,815 boxes, valued at £72j852, on a basis of Is 3d per lb. This was followed by a shipment of 28,163 boxes in the Pvimutaka, which sailed early in October. It is estimated that this shipment was worth £.101y856, the butter being assessed at Is 3%d. The Arawa's shipment is assessed at Is 4d, making the approximate value of the butter £128,893. In the same period last year shipments totalling 55,109 boxes were made. The three shipments to London this season and the corresponding ones last year may be set down as follows: 1915-16. 1914-K. Boxes, Boxes. Otaki 20,815 5,081 Rimutaka ... 28,163 25,026 Arawa 34,525 25,002 While this season, «p to the present, the London shipments have exceeded those of last season by 25,394 boxes, the high prices obtained in England this year give nearly a SO per cent, increase in revenue from this source.
