AGAIN ON THE OFFENSIVE. AUSTRIAN'S GO OUT OP CZERNOWITZ. London, Oct. 20. Owing to General Ivanoff's successes the Austrians have evacuated Czernowitz. The Germans were repulsed northward of Shalbatz and are retiring in disorder. RUSSIAN SUCCESSES. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Wellington, Oct. 21. The High Commissioner reports, under date London, October 20 (5.23 a,m.): In the region of Riga the Germans seized the village of Kisch, advancing in the region of Mitau. Russians aviators bombed Mitau and Grossekau. In the Pripet district successes were brilliantly developed and many prisoners taken when, by a swift blow at Novoselkay, the enemy was driven to flight. TO RESIST THE BEAR. ENEMY'S PREPARATIONS. Received Oct. 21, 7.20 pjn. Paris, Oct 20. M. Nandean, at Russian headquarters, states that the Austro-Germans are constructing immense fortifications along the rear between the approaches to Riga and the Dneister. One thousand navvies are working day and night aronnd Lemberg with a view to stopping the Slav wave, 'which is now reforming for a westward advance. GERMAN REPORT. \ STORY OF SUCCESSES. Received Oct. 21, 9 p.m. Amsterdam. Oct. 20. A German communique states that General Hindcnburg has further progressed north-eastward and north-westward of Metau, capturing several positions.
