The death occurred at Napier on Thursday of Mr. John Hilton Weaver, who was for many years postmaster at Waipawa. He subsequently held the same position at Port Ahuriri, and retlred some time ago. The Bishop of Wellington has, ap» pointed the Rev. A. S. Innes-Jonea, for 22 years vicar of Feilding, to be Archdeacon of Bnngitikei, in place of Archdoacon C. C. Harper, who has gone home to England. Mr. T. Rohson, of Robson Road, Ngaere, has sold his farm, and intends to leave by the Niagara on November 2nd for California. It is Mr. Robson's intention to enter the' fruit-growing industry, making a speciality of orange cultivation. Police-Superintendent O'Donovah, of Dunedin, has been appointed to succeed Inspector Ellison, who is retiring. Inspector Wright, of Hampton, has been promoted to the rank of superintendent, and will be transferred to Dunedin, in succession to Mr. O'Donovan.
