DISTRICT NEWS.
RAHOTU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. Hughson have returned from Wellington after seeing their .son Robert oft". He has gone 011 the training ship. Mr. and Mr?. Wright have also been to Wellington to bid good-bye to their son-in-law, Corporal Brown, who has left with the Seventh Reinforcements. ('rival; W. J. Wriglit, of the Artillery, is expected home en furlough ne;ct Saturday. All of the Eighth Reinforcements from here when on furlough looked extremely well, and seemed to be enjoying the catnp life at Trentham. The tea presided over by Mesdames Dawson (second time), Evans, T. Hughson, jun„ and Thomas was fairly well attended. The next is to be catered for by all young ladies, the Misses Dew (second time), Wright (2), and Fleming. Rahotu was well represented at the Waiwal;a.iho Bull Fair, Messrs Hopping, Dawson, Tynell, Momona, and A. Phillips all having purchased pedigree Jersey bulls. The misty hot weather seems to be bringing the potato blight into the district, although it suit 3 the grass. Most of the cow 9 are milking more heavily than usual.
