The majority of districts report excellent prospects of a bumper wheat harvest. State officials and business men say there is no doubt that tliere will be sufficient overseas transportation to remove the surplus. _ THE KIDMAN CASE. \ Received Oct. 15, 9.60 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 13. In the Kidman case, Major Page gi*e evidence that Kidman admitted that offlo tender which was sent in in another name was his. Kidman explained that it was done in a hurry, and regretted it. In regard to the tenders which Simes opened, . witness had not the slightest suspicion that they were not genuine. In reply to questions, Page denied receiving any money or consideration from Kidman.
VICTORIAN FINANCES'. Received Oct. la, 10.40 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. IS. Tt is estimated that the State revenue for the current year will be £11,244, and the deficit £233,220. A WORRIED TREASURER. Received Oct. 15, 8.50 p.m. Hobart, Oct. 1.1 The treasurer stated that the year ended with a deficit of £140,000, including £40.000 which was advanced against ore, and £15.000 losses on imported wheat. What troubled him was where to get the money to carry on till the end of the present calendar year. Beyond that lie was unable to see.
