Sergeant-Major Parker was fined five pounds for assaulting the sub-editor of the newspaper Truth by pouring a bottle of ink over liim, because the paper described him as belonging to the "cold feet'' brigade. Parker is an athlete and n trainer at the military camp. He is the father of six children, and offered his services for the front, but the department told him he would be better employed in training troops. RED CROSS DISBURSEMENTS, Received Oct. 15, 8.50 p.m. Melbourne, Oct. IS. The annual report of the Australian branch of the Red Cross Society shows receipts which have been disbursed since the war began to bo £171,188.

Chisholm, H. CI Finnerty, W. 15. Bradley (in hospital at London), Corporal W. Morgan (in hospital at Bombay), Signaller R. Hay (disembarked at Malta), Private W, J. Wheat>.y (in hospital at Gliezireh), Private R. 11. Baker (in second auxiliary convalescent depot). JEWISH SUFFERERS. Perth, Oct. 15. Mr. Leopold Rothschild has cabled to the president of the He'brew congregation that there are over l'/i million Jewish sufferers in the Russian war zone. Their sufferings are appalling, and they are appealing for assistance. A fund has been started. Melbourne, Oct. 15. - Mr. Fisher announced that Bulgarians in Australia are now treated as enemy subjects. PATRIOTIC FUNDS. Sydney, Oct, 15. The amounts of the various patriotic funds are: New South Wales £1,fi07,000, Victoria £l,0\!4,000. LIVERPOOL CAMP. Sydney, Oct. 15. Replying to animadversions on the health conditions at the Liverpool Camp, the Commandant replied that there was no training camp of the same size in the Empire with as low a mortality.
