CHEESE FULL OF COINS.
GIFT TO BED CROSS MART. An offer was recently made "by Mr. W. J. Neilson and Mr. W. A. Corbett, of Punibo, to each send a crate of cheese, in which coins would be enclosed, to the soldiers at the front. Mr. Neilson has now written to Mr. J. K Wilson, the exMayor of New Plymouth, suggesting that as it i s possible for the cheese to go astray in transit, it would be better to send the cheese to the Red Cross Mart at New Plymouth, where it could be cut up and sold, the proceeds going to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. t( I enclose a copy of our list," adds Mr. Neilson, "and I think it would be a good idea if you could get someone in New Plymouth to go around and a,dd further to' it. In the course of a few days we hope to be able to further increase this amount, and about the end of the present week I intend to manufacture the cheese and have the coins enclosed." Ml', Wilson approved of the suggestion, and arrangements will be made to have the cheese placed on sale at the Red Cross Mart. It will he a novel experience to purchase cheese in which coins have been placed at random, and people will watch with interest for the appealance of the cheese at the mart. The list of donations made at iPuniho is as follows:W. A. Corbett, one crate cheese, value £5, and cash £l. W. J. Neilson, one crate cheese value £'), and cash £]. ' S. Arhuckle, 10s; J.
