WAKING UP. RECRUITING RALLY IN SYDNEY. Received Oct. 12, 12.46 a.m. Sydney, Oct. 11. Tl\e new recruiting campaign lias opened, Bands paraded the streets and a big meeting in the Town Hall was addressed by the Governor-General and Federal and State leaders.
Tiio speakers stressed the gravity of the Balkan developments, Mr. Hughes declared t'hat if the Germans reached Constantinople first it meant a serious menace to Australia. If tile Australians pet there first it was the beginning of the ent|| of the war. Mr. Cook declared that allowing for casualties, medical, and other services, there were not moje than forty thousand Australian fighters at the Dardanelles. The meeting resulted iu a good number of recruits.
