Tiio speakers stressed the gravity of the Balkan developments, Mr. Hughes declared t'hat if the Germans reached Constantinople first it meant a serious menace to Australia. Mr. Cook declared that allowing for casualties, medical, and other services, there were not moje than forty thousand Australian fighters at the Dardanelles. The meeting resulted iu a good number of recruits.
