STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Saturday. The Scottish Society have forwarded to the secretary of the Patriotic Committee the first instalment of £IOOO towards the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, A life-size photograph of the late Colonel Maione is at present on view in Messrs Hallenstein Bros.' window. The photo is the work' of Mr. J. McAllister, and is to the order of the Stratford County Council, to be hung in the Council's room as a remembrance of the departed soldier. At Toko Road, the residents gave a farewell to Messrs Mather and Marfell, who are leaving for the front. The hall was crowded, and a most successful social and dance was held, The ordinary monthly meeting of the Borough Council takes place on Monday night. Mr. Charles Bayly is, I understand, leuving for England at the end of the month with a view of offering his services for the cause of the Empire.
