Not long ago a small quarry operator drove up to one of these stores. The man was in a dog-cart, and his wife was with him. Calling to the proprietor of the store, ho said:— '•Jim, bring out that box I bought a nbile ago!'' The package was put into (he dogcart at the feet of the man and his wife. The latter eyed the box suspiciously. "What's in that packager" she a'sked, with some asperity. ".Vow, never iniiid,' said (he husband; "that's not going to hurt you." The evasion excited the'wife's further suspicions, "l-id. Npivcns," she exclaimed, '■that's a box of dynamite!" "Well, what if'it is;" said hid., emphatically. "It won't do any damage unless it explodes." "Ed. Spivons!" shrilled the woman, "if you think I'm going (o ride six miles in a dog-cart with fifty pound* of dynamite at my feet you're :; bigger fool' than I thought you were! You'lit that man lake that stuff right out and put it in the hack part of the cart, tinder the seat!"
