THE NATIONAL PERIL.
To the Editor. Sir,—Allow me to crave a further and final short space in yo.ir valued columns in answer to "Honor to Whom Honor is Due." He saya that he thinks I have been taking overdoses of something that acta on the brain quickly, judging from the peculiar strain of my correspondence. Well, I would ask "Honor to Whom Honor is Due,''' has he ever gone quietly through his*, own correspondence in connection with "Subscriber's" letter, and if so, what conclusion has he arrived at? If lie has not, all I can say is that others have, and tha conclusion that they have arrived at is that in one instance at least that same old strain of pumpkin is still there. "Honor to Whom Honor is Due" seems to be suffering from a bad dose of "Wilhelm on the brain" (poor fellow!) in thinking that all who fail to see things the same as he does are pro-German and unpatriotic wasters, but I would like to he)' him that, at a pinch, if having to deal with Wilhelm. the accursed and his murderous Huns, that 50 such men as "Subscriber" would no doubt he worth a whole regiment of such as "Honor to Whom Honor is Due" would be. Practical patriotism is worth very much more than the mouth-organ variety in the present crisis. "Honor to Whom Honor is Due" has retired (as it appears to me) outflanked and defeated badly, owing to not himself fully understanding what h'j wished to teach others (a very bad move indeed). In conclusion, Mr. Editor, allow me to thank you for allowing valuable space, for this controversy, and also not forgetting to thank you for those foot-notes, which were just the thing, although "Honor to Whom Honor is Due" did not seem to relish them—not much!—l am, etc., ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER.
