TARANAKI PROBABLY REMAINS (By Telegraph—Special to Daily News/j; Wellington, Last Night. The Education Amendment Bill, as. it has been paßsed by the House of Representatives, provides for a reduction of the number of Education Districts to Nine, instead of Seven. It may ba taken for granted that the Taranaki Education District, which wag marked for extinction by the Commission, will • now be retained. The Taranaki members, notably Messrs Okey and Hine, have been very active in the matter, and apparently have succeeded in bringing the Government to their way of thinking with regard to the claims 'of the Taranaki District. The final selection will be made by the Council of Education.
