WHERE THE ALLIES LANDED. BULGARIAN ACTIVITY. Athens, Oct. 7. The Allies' detachments which landed near Salonika encamped in the territory ceded to Serbia after the 1913 treaty as a bite for stores. They will proceed as quickly as possible to Ghevgeli (just outside Serbian territory). The Bulgarians have had all the houses on the shore at Dedeagatch evacuated and are arming the forts with powerful guns and laying a double row of mines off the port. Dedeagatch is full of troops stiffened with German officers and non-coms. It is stated there are 5000 of them in the Bulgarian Army. The Bulgarian mobilisation is actively proceeding. Germany gave a formal assurance that Bulgaria would not attack Greece nor attack Serbia until the latter had been crushed by Germany.
THE REPLY TO RUSSIA. EVIDENCE OF UNBALANCED MINDS. Sofia, Oct. 7. A communique says (hat Bulgaria, replying to the ultimatum and notes by the Entente, again explains the essence of her neutrality and emphasises the possible danger from fresh encouragement toeing given to the Serbians. She categorically rejects the accusation concerning the presence of German and Austrian officers in the Bulgarian army, declaring that she cannot send away people who do rut exist.
BULCAR DISSENSIONS. SALONIKA RAILWAY THREATENED. London, Oct. 7. Bulgaria is concentrating at Strumnitza to threaten the Salonika railway. There have been disturbances at Sofia, Rustcbuk, Ternova, Varna, Philippolis, and Burgas. M. Radoslavoff has reassured the Roumanian and Greek Ministers as to the friendship of Sofia. The Serbian Minister has asked for his passports.
INVASION OF SERBIA. CONFLICTING REPORTS. Berlin, Oct. 7. Official: Large Teutonic forces crossed the Drina, Save and Danube into Serbia. London, Oct. 7. The Germans claim ic have crossed to the Drina side of the Danube at many points. A Serbian communique states: "An enemy attempt to cross to the south was repulsed." London, Oct. 8. Cable correction.—The Germans claim to have crossed the rivers Drina, Save, and Danube at many points. A Serbian communique states that the enemy's attempt to cross the Save was repulsed. SERBIAN REPORT. Nish, October 7. A communique states: Our artillery drove back, an enemy battery on the river Save. Twenty aeroplanes flew over the Lower Toravo and Lava, and dropped thirty bombs on Pajarevats, and three on Goritza. There were no casualties. IWe repulsed an attempt to cress the Save opposite the Banovobro.
SENT HOME. ITALY'S WARNING TO BULGARIA. Rome, Oct. 7. The Bulgarian Minister has been handed his passports. BOMBARDMENT OF VARNA. RUSSIAN CRUISERS TARE ACTION. Received Oct. 8, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, Oct. 7. - Two Russian cruisers are bombarding Varna.
TO IMPRESS THE ALBANIANS. INHABITANTS SHOT. Received Oct. (', 0.5 p.m. Athens, Get. 7. Advices from Durazzo state that it is said (?) Pasha shot thirty inhabitants who were acting under instructions of Austro-German agents and endeavoring to stir up trouble. The execution has greatly impressed pro-German Albanians.
THE GREEK CRISIS. DIVERSE OPINIONS IN GERMANY. Received Od. H, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, Oct. 7. Die Politiken says that the Greek crisis lias created a pleasant surprise throughout Germany where it is thought that the Kaiser interfered at the moment. One section of the newspapers proclaim the failure of the Allies' Balkan policy, l.ut others regard, the resignation as a manoeuvre, and hint that King ConstantiiiO nii y be playing a dangerous part NEW GREEK CABINET.
