IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.
VIEWS OF SIR GEORGE REID. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, Oct. 5. Sir George Reid, in an article in the Evening News, states:—"For many years to come any attempt to establish an Imperial Parliament worthy of the name will be rejected. It has been my life-long conviction that the ties now binding the subjects of the King-Em-peror cannot be radically changed without infinite care. Because of the present loose condition, things work well on the whole. An Imperial 'Parliament is a noblo idea but, accepting it as the ideal, the question of practicability must, be considered. For every white subject of the King-Emperor there are six colored. The problem of legislation is cue of great complexity and is practically impossible, as the races are in different stages of evolution and formal tics do not count half as much as sentimental ones."
