AMONG THE CASUALTIES. NOTED FOOTBALLER KILLED. Received Oct C, 10 p.m. Sydney, Oct. C. Colonel Ryrie, commanding the Australian Ligiit Horse at the Dardanelles, has 'been wounded in* the neck, but not serious. Nulla Roberts, a well-known Rugby Union three-quarter back, has been killed in action. He several times played against the New Zealauders. RETURNED SOLDIERS. Sydney, Oct. 6. In the Assembly the Govervnment promised to consider the suggestion to give wounded soldiers an opportunity of entering agricultural colleges. The administration of patriotic funds was discussed and the establishment of a bureau suggested, where applications would receive prompt attention. NEW RECRUITING CAMPAIGN. Sydney, Oct. C. It has definitely been decided to open a second recruiting campaign on Monday, which will occupy six weeks. Another campaign will be inaugurated to inculcate economy and efficiency and suggest how those unable to enlist may best serve the country. MANUFACTURE OF MUNITIONS. Sydney, Oct. 0. Mr. Holman states that a report has been received that three types of ma-chine-guns are being made at Walsh Island, one invented in the State works, another <by somebody outside, and the third a British design, of which ten replicas are being constructed. Aeroplane building is proceeding satisfactorily. A Blight hitch has occurred in shell-making, but he did not doubt the State tender would eventually ho accepted. Two firemen and two guards Were injured, and twenty-two passengers suffered bruises and shock. The engines and three carriages were badly smashed.
