THE DARDANELLES. BOMBARDMENT OF THE STRAITS. Mitylene, Oct. 5. A light British squadron bombarded the Turkish positions at Fenki. On Monday. the Allies placed long-range guns on barges and bombarded the forts on both sides of the Straits. REPORTED EVACUATION OF ENOS. (Times and Sydney Sun Servivces.) London, Oct. 5. The Turks are believed to have evacuated Enos (on the Aegean Sea), in consequence of the discovery of c widespread plot of an organised Macedonian committee at Sofia. There were numerous arrests. FALSE HOPES. (Times and Sydney Sun Services.) London, Oct. 5. At a meeting of the Turkish Chamber the Vice-President said that events were tending to justify Salil Bey's prediction that the Dardanelles would prove the Allies' tomb.
