Iliiia. in in New Plymouth. 1 H!•: RARAWA. 'I !i • Uarawa will leave Onehunga. for Xew Plymouth on Sunday, the 10th, instead of Monday, in. order to bring the J. C. Williamson Company from Auckland. Slio will remain hero until Tuesday night, when she sails as usual. NOTES. The Union Company's steamer Monro, which has been laid up in the stream at Auckland for some time, will proceed this week to Newcastle to load coal for the Phillipines, after which she will enter the Chinese coastal trade. As recently announced, the vessel has heen sold to an Eastern firm.
The Niagara left Vancouver yesterday week for Auckland, via way ports, and is due there on October 17 Heavy rain delayed the Clan Mactavish at Waitara, and her departure from Wellington for London, via Brisbane, takes place to-day. Arrangements have been completed for the steamer Berwick Law, 4680 tbn?, to take the loading berth at Montreal for Australian and New Zealand ports. She will follow the New Zealand Shipping Company's Ashbuvton, now loading there, and is expected to get away some time during this month. 'The C and D. liner Xerehana lias been fixed to leave London on October 10 for Australian and New Zealand ports.
According to advices received, the steamer Waihemo arrived at Vancouver on Thursday, September 23. She was to have cleared that port on Monday last for San Franx-isco. On October fl, or thereabouts, the Waihemo is expected to leave San Francisco for Sydney, via Wellington. Mr. John Furlong, who has been connected wjth Huddart-Parkcr Company at Sydney for 25 years, has been transferred to the Hobart office of the company. Captain James Reade, who was wellknown in the New Zealand-Australian trade, died at the Sydney Hospital recently in his fifty-fourth year. On one occasion he went to England, and procured the barque Mary Isabel. He was .described as "one of the whitest men that ever sailed under the British flag as a master mariner."
