THE METROPOLITAN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, Oet. 5. Yesterday's attendance at the races was 50,000. The Herald, commenting on the Metropolitan, says that Reputation, who ■had hitherto been hampered by the nuek, came with a wonderfully fast run. Had ha appeared on the scene a little sooner the result might liave been altered. The Telegraph says that Reputation made a bold bid. He had to tVead his way throtigh on the inside and then finished brilliantly over the last furlong.

FLEMINGTOX TRAINING NOTES. Melbourne, Oct. 5. At Plemington, Naxberry did six furlongs in lmin 20sec; Traquette covered a mile in lmin 4Ssec; Pretty Bobby ran a mile in lmin 53sec;; Prince Bardolph did a mile in lmin 52sec; Golden Wire ran a mile in lmin 59sec; and Rosanna a mile in lmin 52eec.
