AJ.C. MEETING. By Cable—Brew Association—Copyright. Sydney, Oct. 2. The weather was fine and hot for the first day of the spring meeting at Randwick. The going was fast, and the attendance was good. Wallace Isinglass was considered a certainty for the Derby. Woorak and Garlin were equal favorites for the Epsom, in which Garlin finished fourth. The Spring Stakes was the best race of the day. Results:— HURDLES.—DiavoIo, 1; Royal Hastings, 2; Jack Rice, 3. There were eight starters. Won by three-quarters of a length, one and a quarter lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 48sec. TRIAL STAKES.-William the Silent, 1; Football, 2; Toa Tere, 3. Four starters. Won by half a length, threequarters of a length separating the other placed horses. Time, 2min 6%sec. AJ.C. DERBY, Of 5000 sovs.; 1% miles. Mr. Geo. Barnett's be Cetiene (Grafton—Pretty Nell), 8.10 T 1 Mr. "J. Baron's" ch c Wallace Isinglass (Wallace—Glass Queen), 8.10 2 Mr. D. N, Seaton's br c Westcourt (Bright Steel—Trinket), 8.10 .... 3 Linaccae was scratched. Wallace Isinglass led to the straight, when Cetigne moved up and challenged him at the distance. In an exciting finish Cetigne won by one and a-quarter lengths, a neck separating second and third. Time, 2min 37see. EPSOM HANDICAP.of2OOOsovs.; one mile.—Woorak, 8.12,"" 1; Golden Hope 8.8, 2; Aurifer, 7.11, 3. All the acceptors started. Woorak led for two furlongs, when Blague overhauled him. At the half mile, Woorak was leading from Garlin, and was not thereafter troubled, winning easily by five lengths. One and a quarter lengths separating second and thiTd. Time, lmin Wftsec. Twelve horses started. Mountain Knight was first into the straight, but Reputation and St. Carwyne overhauled him and an exciting finish resulted in • dead-heat, Mountain Knight fourlengths away. NAPIER PARK .RACING CLUB. §y, Telegrapfl.MPirees Association. Napier, Oct. 2. The Napier Park Racing Club's spring meeting was held to-day in fine weather. There was a good attendance, and big fields started in each race. J. O'Shea, rider of Egypt, in the Juvenile Handicap, was fined £SO for boring in on C. Emerson on Bariey Sugar, and H. Young on Chit Chat. Results:— GREENMEADOWS HACK HURDLE RACE. One and a half miles.—4 Scorch, 1; 3 King's Guard, 2; 1 Negative, 3. Also started: 0 Prince Eddie, 7 Sensitive, 10 Rongomau, 2 Hinemanu, 2 Zaonos, 12 Waiparapara, 13 Sugar Push, 9 Qyra, 5 Dryana, 11 Otama. Dryana and Hinemanu fell. Won easily by five lengths.
