GERMAN SUBMARINES.

STORY OF A GOOD CATCH. A letter from a military cadet in England, written to bis fattier, who happened to receive the letter at Bellingen, Tasmania, contains the following interesting items, Bays the Bellingen Courier:—"Father learns from one of his brothers the other day that during the last three months or so the British have captured 18 German submarines, all of the big modern type. The periscopes of the enemy submarines are rendered useless, and they have come to the surface to see where they are. British torpedo boats in waiting deal with them. It will interest you; perhaps, to learn where these German submarines have been getting their necessaries. About a month ago seven fishermen were shot at Kinsale for supplying German submarines with petrol and oil. Many more have been dealt with on the east coast of England for doing the same sort of thing. In particular was Captain . He had been Supplying petrol and oil to German submarines for a long time, but his mechanic became suspicious of him and reported his suspicious to the war authorities. One day he made the -mistake of signalling to a British submarine. He-was shot at Dover. There is some reason to suppose he bad something to do with the blowing up of the British warships and . is .sure about the suppling of oil and petrol, hut not about the blowing up of the ships."
