How did the name Kalem come about? From the initial letters of the three founders of tli.i firm: Kliene, Long and Marion. The vowels were just put in to make them sound. Samuel Long died recently. He was with the American Mutoscope and Blograph (now the American Biograph) in 1897, and in 1W formed the Kalem, so that he has a right to the honors enjoyed by the pioneers of this great industry.
