Wellington, Last Night. Tn the House of Representatives this afternoon Mr. C. H. Poole asked the Minister of Defence whether lie was aware that a type-written notice was posted in the forecastle of the Tahiti, instructing the' crew that they must be prepared to leave the ship within (wenty-l'our hours of her arrival in port, i mill whether that had anything to do' with the recent hold-up of the ship. The, Minister said he had no knowledge, of any type-written notice being posted in the Tahiti. Mr. Poole remarked that it was a fact. The Minister of Marine, in reply to ] Mr. Poole, said that lie had never stated at a function in Wellington that he was prepared to allow ships to leave port | manned by unqualified officers. His remarks had evidently been misunderstood, if such an impression had got abroad.
