It has been pointed out that there is ' not only some misapprehension as to ! how exactly parcels for soldiers at the . Skoglund, the i Town Clerk, therefore has kindly suggested that if parcels for any of our boyc i at the Front are left at 'his office I*3l ■ will see they are packed in one case anj' duly forwarded addressed: "Ohristmas gifts to the Taranaki Boys at the iront." It is necessary, however, that parcels for individuals, or gifts in general for this good purpose, should be sent forward as speedily as possible to ensure carriage by the first ships to leave for Egypt, Parcels should not be left at the Town Clerk's office not later than Monday afternon. Gifts must be packed in flat tins and securely sealed, that is to say in biscuit or such like, and with the lids soldered down* At a meeting of the Ladies' (Patriotic Committee it was decided to continue the "Dardanelles market" every Saturday, and that afternoon tea should not be dispensed oftener than once a month, i The committee decided to fully equip five beds on the hospital ship Marama. The committee have made and sent to Wellington over 80 leather waistcoats for our boys at the front. Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, Medical Inspector of Schools, inspected the local schools on Thursday. Judgment for plaintiff fojr default was given in the following civil cases at the Stratford Magistrate's Court to-day:— R. D. Barford and Co. (Mr. E. Rutherfurd), v. A. Douglas, £3 14s Bs, costs 7s; Webster, Dobson and Co. (Mr E S Rutherfurd) v. ,T. H. Slight, £SO, costs £1 8s; David Steven (Mr. P. Thompson), v. John Zurcher, £3 Bs, costs 12s. In the judgment summons case, Mary Ryan (Mr. P. Thompson), v. A. E. Johnson, judgment was given for plaintiff for £5 63 6d, in def&ult seven days' imprisonment.
