IN BAD STRAITS. By Telegraph.—iPresa Association. Auckland, Sept. 30. The Star's Tonga correspondent writes under date September 17: "We are going through one of the longest droughts in the history of Tonga. There have been fifty deaths in Vavau through starvation and bad water. The King held, a big meeting at which every taxpayer was present. All were urged to assist with food, etc. The Government intends supplying food, but there b so much delay that relief in many cases may be too late. The Premier intends to visit the worst places to alleviate distress. Tonga was never in such a bad strait as at present.
